The Large White and the Small White are very familiar to us and it’s a constant battle to stop their progeny from taking more than their fair share of the brassicas and salad crops. During August hundreds of the Painted Lady congregated on the lavender, we had to walk through clouds of them to get to the front door. A lovely experience! Seen for the first time in this garden, was the Common Blue, hopefully it will not be the last. Frequent visitors include the Small Tortoiseshell, Red Admiral, Comma, Peacock and either the Meadow Brown or the Small Heath (or both). How lucky are we?
